Starting off the Blog

Here is an example post to start our class' blog.

I just stumbled across an article suggesting that researchers may have found a key to curing Alzheimer's disease.  Apparently, researchers at University of Rochester Medical School have found a link between Alzheimer's Disease and a dysfunctional drainage system in the brain.  Drainage of cerebrospinal fluid is critical for reparation, waste management, and recovery in the brain.  In a study using photon microscopy in mice, it was observed that amyloid-beta, which is said to serve a known role in disease states, is cleaned out by this drainage system.  This system may be targeted by particular drugs for the purpose of improving its function.  It is possible that such an intervention could attenuate the effects of Alzheimer's Disease, or add some preventative measure against its development.

What are your thoughts on this?  It sounds exciting and promising, but maybe it's a little too early in the game to put much stock in these findings until tested with humans.  What do you know of Alzheimer's? Are there other important factors that are not being considered by this limited study?... This is pretty much the minimum length that I want to see.
